Where the Wind passes lightly
2025 - Festival de Microarchitettura 25
Competition Entry with Zishen Liu & Nathaniel Loretz
“The trees swayed lightly, not so much that even their small bird nests were disturbed.
So gently did the wind pass through the leaves.”
– Dante Alighieri, Purgatorio, The divine comedy
The competition entry is based on the local folklore of the Castello della Pieve in Mercatello sul Metauro, in which Dante’s exile from Florenece has been decided.
The project aims to connect Dante’s poetic understanding of nature as earthly paradise with Mercatello’s contemporary landscapes and notions through a Microarchitectural intervention. The proposal is situated in between the two trees of the site, forming not only a gate connecting the river and the agricultural field but also an “island” with their roots.
