The Synthetic Gardens of Brick LaneMaster Thesis - 2022
The project is a landscape garden for the Bengali community from Whitechapel in London. Due to the ongoing gentrification in the district, the visibility of the community from the inner boroughs is diminishing, along with their participation in London city life. The architecture of the garden attempts to strike a balance between physical and digital space, creating Instagrammable moments along a procession path. Rich in ornamentation, artificial and real plants are putting notions of beauty and time in question.
Thus, the garden becomes more than just a backdrop, but rather puts the cultural significance of digital content production at the forefront as a tool of self-representation.
