Located in Vienna’s new urban development area in Rothneusiedl, the 4th nature tries to emphasize the historical and cultural connection of the site to its soil.
The project is driven by a new understanding of urban design as a evolutionary cycle, trying to reimagine it as a sustainable alternative to a traditional anthropocentric city.
Starting point for the project has been the planned metro station which provides tons of constructive and biophilic materials.
Simulating the vegetation as if it would stay untouched land, a coherent network is woven into the urban fabric. Acknowleding more than human species as equal stakholders in an urban planning process.
Resulting, is a series of design investigations on the urban scale, the living scale, and the scale of public spaces. All developed under the premises of multispecies co-living, modularity, temporality, and speculation.
